Hi, I’m Julie! I am a lifelong geek, storyteller, aspiring Jedi, and the slightly frazzled human companion to two energetic dogs (Sabine and Ezra) and one extremely judgmental cat named Aragorn. I run on caffeine, sarcasm, and the belief that a quote from The Princess Bride can solve most problems.
I created The Catholic Jedi as a space to write fanfiction and blog posts about the stories I love, which include Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, video games, books, and all the beautiful, nerdy intersections in between. I write mostly for myself, but I publish for anyone who finds joy in those worlds.
In real life, I’m a project manager, which means I make a lot of spreadsheets and even more to-do lists. That structure helps me stay organized, especially as someone navigating both ADHD and perimenopause (an unfun combo, 0/10 do not recommend). Writing is my creative outlet, my way to spend time having fun, and my favorite way to wrestle with big questions about hope, grief, identity, and how to fight the forces of evil.
I’m also a hiker and walker who finds peace in the mountains and woods, especially after too many hours indoors staring at a soul-sucking blinking cursor. When I’m not writing or planning my next D&D game night with friends, you’ll find me painting miniatures, rereading old favorites, or wrestling with the dogs. I also love naps.
Yes, I’m Catholic. It is in the name. That’ll come through now and then in how I write and how I see the world through a lens of wonder, struggle, grace, and story. But this blog isn’t just for Catholics. It’s for anyone who loves good fiction, complex characters, humor, and a little heart hidden between the lines.
