Update 11/25: I passed.
I’m studying to take the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam in November and thought I’d share some of the resources I’m finding useful. The exam has 180 questions, and they do not publish a passing score so there’s no real way to feel satisfied I’m ready to go, but I have 22 more days so I’ll keep plugging away at it.
- The PMP subreddit. They have a lot of exam tips and other recommended resources to consider.
- PMP Exam Prep Simplified by Andrew Ramdayal. This includes 35 hours of training, which you need to apply.
- Pocket Prep. This is an app on my phone that has quizzes. It covers a number of exams other than the PMP.
- David McLachland’s question videos on YouTube. I’ve linked to one here, but he has a few on the PMBOK and on Agile.
I’m fortunate to have access to online training via work, which is where I took the classes needed to apply for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). The CAPM counts as my training requirement for the PMP, so I didn’t use the 35 hours from Andrew’s book. I’m still going through the videos though to prepare for the exam though, as they are excellent.
